Emily Vizzo

Emily is a San Diego writer and educator. A Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA graduate, she was an August 2013 resident at the Vermont Studio Center and Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference 2010 participant. Her work has appeared in FIELD, North American Review, Ellipsis, and Jet Fuel Review; her essay, “A Personal History of Dirt,” was listed as a notable essay for Best American Essays 2013. A San Diego Area Writing Project Fellow, Emily serves as assistant managing editor with Drunken Boat, volunteers with Poetry International, and reads for Hunger Mountain. Her journalism has been published in the Los Angeles Times and other national platforms; she currently teaches yoga at the University of San Diego.
