Sarah’s first novel, Gaijin, was published in 2020 and received glowing reviews. She did a number of bookstore appearances, book clubs, and podcasts, and was interviewed by local and national media. Her next book, a collection of linked short stories called Walloon Lake, comes out in April 2026. Her ekphrastic poetry collection was displayed at the Bellarmine Museum, where she gave a public reading, and her poems have been published in several anthologies. Her essay, “On Getting Vivian,” was published by The Shanghai Literary Review, and her short story, “A Few Innocuous Lines,” won an award from Writers Digest. She completed an MFA from Fairfield University in 2012, and prior to that, she worked as a journalist and ghostwriter. These days, she writes a biweekly newspaper column about the library and literature and moderates three book clubs. She was recently on author panels at the Pasadena Literary Festival, a Barnes & Noble store, and the Rancho Santa Fe Library. In 2024, she was awarded a three-week artist residency at Ragdale Foundation in Lake Forest, Illinois. It was a focused creative retreat where she completed Walloon Lake.
