Susan is a member of the Dramatists Guild and of Around the Block Playwrights, a writing group facilitated by Deborah Salzer, Playwrights Project founder. The group showcases its work in staged readings at venues in San Diego, including in 2019 at Moxie Theatre and in 2017 at the former Ion Theater. She is an award-winning journalist who wrote and edited thousands of articles during her 25-year journalism career. She was an assistant metro editor, a features editor and a reporter for The San Diego Union Tribune. She freelanced for the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, KPBS, San Diego Home-Garden Magazine, and The Flint Journal. She co-authored a book recounting the experiences of soldiers during World War II.
