She is also a theater director, producer, and teaching artist, as well as a writing instructor and a former magazine editor. Her third and fourth prompt-based writing books (with Rockridge Press) were released in 2022.

The Black Velvet Coat, The Silver Shoes, and The Green Lace Corset are dual timeline novels about women searching for their place in the world connected by vintage finds. Her poems have appeared in a variety of publications including A Year in Ink, The Avocet, and Wild Women, Wild Voices. She fashions collages and whimsical mosaics using found objects like Anne in her stories. On her blog, Crealivity, she shares her poetry and musings about the art of practicing a creative lifestyle.



Judy Reeves is a writer and teacher whose books include A Writer’s Book of Days, named “Best Nonfiction” by the San Diego Book Awards; Writing Alone, Writing Together; A Creative Writer’s Kit; The Writer’s Retreat Kit and, most recently, Wild Women, Wild Voices. Her fiction, nonfiction, and poetry has appeared in the San Diego ReaderThe Frozen MomentA Year in Ink; Connotations PressServing House Journal; Waymark; Expressive Writing, Classroom and Community, and other journals and anthologies. Two plays, written with a women’s writing ensemble, were produced by the Fritz Theater. She’s also served as editor for several journals and chapbooks, including three editions of A Year in Ink. She has been leading community-based writing practice groups for thirty years and teaches at writing conferences internationally and at San Diego Writers, Ink, a nonprofit literary center she cofounded.
