Darcy Alvey

Darcy Alvey received a degree in journalism from San Diego State University and pursued a career that took her to other countries and brought her face-to-face with fascinating people. All the while, she read short stories in her spare time and started educating herself on that craft. After retiring from her job as editor of a large regional magazine, she took up creative writing on a fulltime basis. She has never looked back. She is as in love with the short story form as much today as she was back in college.

In the past few years she has had stories included in a number of publications, including, Wilderness House Literary Review, Foundling Review, The Write Room, Waypoints, 34th Parallel, After Dinner Conversation and upcoming in Westwind of UCLA. Currently, she is working on a collection of short stories she hopes to complete by the end of the year. The collection highlights what it is to be a woman in these turbulent times, going deep into relationships, particular moments in time, the vagaries that alter lives forever.
