Class Description

What’s your favorite period of time? The Historical Novel Society defines the genre as a story that takes place at least 50 years in the past. Do you write stories that are pre-1973? Join us as we discuss the elements of Historical Fiction, such as setting, plot, and character development. We’ll examine reader thresholds for suspension of disbelief and how to incorporate real history without sounding like a textbook or getting mired in the weeds. Bring examples of historical information that you want to weave into your stories. This seminar is appropriate for beginning, intermediate, or advanced Historical Fiction authors.
