Hi everyone! My name is Leontine Coombs, but I go more familiarly by Leo. I’m excited to be joining the San Diego Writers Ink team as an intern!

I’m currently a senior at the University of Houston, majoring in Biotechnology and minoring in Creative Writing. I get the best of both worlds this way, as I’ve always grown up equally interested in science and literature. I am the Editor in Chief of UH’s undergraduate literary magazine, Glass Mountain, and worked as a prose editor before then.

My main writing style is short fiction, with the occasional venture into creative nonfiction. Being originally from Maine, a lot of northeastern vibes sneak into my work, intentionally or otherwise. I enjoy reading literary fiction with great prose, as well as hard science fiction (shocker, right?) and historical fantasy. When I’m not reading or writing, I love a good beach day, re-binging Dance Moms, going to hockey games, and local trivia nights.

After school, I look forward to the possibility of grad school, or finding a full-time job blending my passions for biology, creating, and people.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I’m so excited to be more involved in the San Diego writing community!
