Hey, hey, hey! My name is Hailey Berkson, and I’m thrilled to join San Diego Writers, Ink as an intern this spring and summer.

Here’s what you need to know about me: I’m a San Diegan, born and raised, and grew up devouring every fiction series I could get my hands on. My Google Drive is clogged with approximately thirty-six “books” I started in middle school but never bothered to finish. I’ll be a senior at Point Loma Nazarene University in the fall, and am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in writing with a minor in business administration. My go-to creative genre is — you guessed it — fiction, and I’m currently working on a YA fantasy novel that I’m determined to actually finish. Also, I’m a firm believer that the Oxford comma is not optional.

When I’m not writing or reading (some of my favorite books are Anne of Green Gables, The Martian, and Daisy Jones & the Six), I enjoy running, listening to 70s music, playing trivia with my family, and having game nights with friends.

My plans after college? So glad you asked (not). Nothing is set in stone yet, but I’m considering teaching English abroad, taking an editing certificate program, or even pursuing a master’s in writing. Hey, maybe I’ll do all three.

I hope to get some valuable, hands-on experience in the literary community at SDWI, and, of course, further hone my writing skills!
