Hi there! My name is Emily Baierl, and I’m so excited to join San Diego Writers, Ink as a summer intern.

I recently graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Counseling & Social Change. My love for storytelling started when I was a kid, writing short stories and reading any chance I got. It deepened in high school when I joined the yearbook staff, which ultimately inspired me to pursue journalism in college. What I enjoy most about journalism is connecting with people through interviews and listening to their unique stories.

Outside of writing, I love hiking, spending time with my family, and listening to music (especially while driving along the coast or taking long walks).

During my time with SDWI, I’m excited to learn more about the behind-the-scenes work that helps creative spaces like this thrive. I’m looking forward to developing more experience and continuing to grow as a writer!
